Tomorrow I start shiftwork and my first week will be 2pm to 10pm. Option 1 would be to wake up at a normal time, go to work, stay up a couple of hours and go to bed. However, I’m going to try for option 2 which involves getting up as late as possible, go to work, come home and stay awake a few more hours.
The reason for this is that I get more time to spend with people (online people, not real ones
) but it does pose a problem, namely half a decade of getting up at 5am and trying to change those habits.
My plan for this weekend has been to stay in bed as long as possible so by tomorrow I’m able to wake up at around noon. My usual weekends involve waking up no later than 7:30am on Saturday and no later than 9am on Sunday. I find it hard to go back to sleep once awake so previously there has been no sleeping until noon on the weekend.
This weekend so far I tried to stay awake as long as I could on Friday night. I only managed until around midnight but instead of the usual waking time of 7:30am on Saturday, I managed until 9am. Saturday night I managed an hour or two past midnight and today I woke up at about 10:30, so far so good. I hope I can keep this up.
