A recent report said that between a fifth and a quarter of all sick notes processed each year are invalid.

So what about insomnia? The guy from work who annoys me with questions (see past and entries) has been away from work for two weeks. Week one was him using some holiday entitlement so that’s okay, week two though and no sign of him. We later find out that he’s claiming insomnia as his reason for being off work.

Now it could be that due to things wieghing on his mind, stress, etc that he is finding it hard to sleep at night. This is the guy who speaks to lots of Americans though, Americans who are a few hours behind us. Americans who will log off when it’s about 4am our time. Since he needs to be at work for 6am, that means ... well I’m sure you know what I’m getting at. He’s not got insomnia, he’s merely a weak willed chat addict who refuses to go to bed at a normal time and then obviously cannot get up for work.

Since he got the PC and connected to the internet he’s had time off with ‘a bad back’ and a week off because his ‘dog was ill’ (despite being seen in town all day). I mentioned to my supervisor that my dog has insomnia and I’d probably not be in work next week
