Last time I broke my glasses it was just before Christmas (although that time I wasn’t drunk), I went to Specsavers based on a recommendation and their speed - kinda hard to survive when everything is a blur. It was around the 20th when I got there, had the test and chose my frames and lenses, paid my money (*sob* *sob*) and was then told that the glasses would be ready on the 22nd ... of January, a full month away. Once it came around to January they also started a 2-for-1 offer.
So this time I did a bit of research and found out that Boots Opticians had the 2-for-1 deal still on so an appointment was made. Luckily I had Wednesday off work and they were able to fit me in. As I was sitting and waiting for my appointment I saw them taking the 2-for-1 stickers and posters down and replacing them with sale prices (about 20% off frames).
Nevertheless I had my appointment and was being guided into buying my new glasses and I asked about the offer. Although technically it wasn’t stilla vailable, because I muttered and looked as though I was about to cry ... and because my glasses had a crack in them which made me look pathetic, they allowed me to still get them with that deal - so yay! They were ordered and paid for (*sob* *sob*) and then I got to hear about the delivery date…
...10 working days and even though Christmas and stuff was about, they still quoted 31st of December but said to phone in beforehand, just in case. Luckily I’d have my new glasses before the New Year, and I got them 2-for-1, all was looking good.
I got home from work yesterday and there was a message on the answerphone stating that “Mrs Pixie’s glasses were ready” (okay they didn’t say ‘pixie’ but did say ‘mrs’), so I threw on my best dress and went and collected them. Sight for Christmas - it’s a miracle!
I get mine from SpecSavers and both times I’ve been they’ve said they’ll be ready in about an hour or two. Needless to say I know plenty of places in Newcastle where two hours can be well spent
A month for SpecSavers to do yours? Do you have special lenses or something? I would imagine if it would take a whole month that they would be fitted with integral X-ray and thermal-imaging technology!
